Route 2020 is an extension of the Dubai Metro Red Line, with the project expected to be completed by the end of this year and estimated to cost $2.9b. The new route is expected to serve approximately 270,000 commuters travelling to and from commercial and residential areas and will feature driverless rolling stock. The extension also includes a 3.2km underground tunnel being drilled between Discovery Gardens and Green Community.
